About Trezeta Chinook Low Hiking Shoes - Waterproof (For Men)

Closeouts. Stomping around in wet grass, muddy creek beds and otherwise wet surfaces usually leads to soaked socks and an uncomfortable hike, but Trezeta's Chinook Mid hiking boots prevent that by using a waterproof breathable Water Stopper membrane as well as a Natural Ventilation system to keep moisture from accumulating inside. They also offer cushioning, support and excellent traction for venturing in rough terrain.

  • Initial satisfaction quickly dissipated

I got these in preparation for a climbing trip out in Nevada this past October that involved some semi-lengthy approaches on uneven terrain and lots of scrambling - they were great. Fast forward to a hiking trip in Arizona this month, February, and the top of the shoe is frayed where it contracts from walking and consequently has compromised the waterproofing. I guess you get what you pay for.
  • Not a Hiking Shoe

Only three months of wear and the Chinook has compromised waterproofing and detaching soles. One shoe's sole came partially unfastened in the front while hiking. It made for very unsafe situations.
I was suckered by the Vibram soles. I assumed they were fastended properly. I also expected the waterproofing would last longer than three months.

My first pair of Trezetas and I have to say I am impressed. Close attention to detail, very comfortable, and not a bad looking shoe. I have not had much of a chance to wear them in that I just received them but from when I have and what I have seen I am happy with my purchase. (note) the sizing is accurate.
  • Good value light hiker

I usually wear a 12 W in a boot or shoe for a little extra room. Since this is not my usual size I took a gamble on the 11 1/2 D. It was a bit tight at the big toe joint, but I was able to (carefully) use a boot stretcher to get a little extra room and now they fit. For anyone with a regular D width they should be great out of the box.

Surprisingly light, they are somewhere between a trail runner and a light hiker in terms of support and stiffness. The uppers have a strong toe bumper and durable uppers for abrasive, rocky hikes. If you have a moderate degree of hallux limitus these should be a decent shoe. There is a bit of rocker motion at toe-off and the sole is stiffer than a running shoe which helps limit flexion of the MTP joint.

If you prefer a thicker insole or socks, you might want to size up. The included insoles provide minimal cushioning, but that's not unusual. The style doesn't scream "outdoorsy" so these are also can be worn as everyday shoes. They would be great for bike commuting if you don't have clips.
  • Perfect for the job

I purchased these for my son for his summer job at a fly fishing store and guide shop. They are perfect for what he needs and are comfortable to wear all day long.
