Shorts are pretty form fitting, which was a surprise given the style. On the plus side, they are so lightweight that even in the hottest weather they won't feel too bad.

These are a touch too long for my taste and hit me around the knee - though I knew that when I ordered. They are very comfortable and forgiving if you have hips and a butt. I do love the fabric and they fit fairly well. Despite the description, I wouldn't say they're stretchy.
