This robe is almost exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something soft but rugged. I live in a rural environment where I sometimes throw hay to the horses or haul in an armload of firewood while in my robe. So, I didn't want a fluffy froo-froo robe. It is perfect in that regard. I don't mind holding an armload of firewood against it - it's not going to hurt it. I got the purple so it doesn't show dirt. At the same time, it is very soft and comfortable. Not too heavy, not too light. Just right. I would have preferred that it was a bit shorter. It truly does come all the way to the ankles. I would have preferred mid-calf for when I sweep the snow off the deck, bring in wood, etc., I would rather not have it dragging in the snow. But, I can always hem it if it proves to be a real problem. I am 5'5", about 125-130 lbs and got a medium. It is plenty roomy. I may have been able to get a small. I roll the sleeves up into about 5" cuffs. It overlaps quite a lot at the waist. I don't notice anything about it that would indicate it is a "seconds" item except the placement of the pockets. They are placed about halfway between the sideseam and the front edge. This makes it so that when you close the robe, one of the pockets is completely covered and the other is smack in the middle of the front. Now, possibly if I'd gotten a "small", this would not be the case. But, I notice that on the robe this one is replacing, which is almost identical, the pockets are placed even with the side seams. So, when the robe is closed, you can still access both pockets and they are still at the sides, not pulled in to the middle.
