Finally, a robe for mostly normal folks!

This is a nice product. Please note that the manf. clearly expects shrinkage & allows for that by cutting large: when I first tried this on in my correct size, I was expecting it to fit [which would have prompted its return, since I know that by the time I wash it, it will be too small! Cotton shrinks forever...] It was considerably oversize, and when washed shrank down to a good, generous fit, and importantly, ACTUALLY CAME DOWN TO MY CALVES. Long then, as most robes end up about knee length on me, until you get into the $100+ luxury robe range.

Here's where my review title comes in: almost all these "one size fits most" type of garments expect the buyer to be a bandy-legged dwarf: this robe is long, with correct length sleeves [downside: not good for cooking in. I can live w/ that! ;) ] The pockets are placed incorrectly, as normal. [I've never seen a robe where they weren't; they're inevitably placed about 6" too high & too near the placket, so if you use the sash, you can't use the pockets, since the belt neatly bisects them, & one is under the overlapped front anyway. Why can't the manf's. figure this out? Nobody, not even busty women, sash their robes at or just below chest height!] This robe is nice enough I may actually spend the $$ to take it to a seamstress to have the pockets moved to where they should be, with the top edge about where the bottom of the pocket is now, & w/ them moved about an equal distance to either side so they'll be approx. hip ht. on either side; you know, where your hands naturally want to hang? ::)

Just an alert: the 1st time you wash this, it will throw off a mountain of lint, so only wash it with other towels of the same color [where the lint won't be noticed. I forgot about this, and had to run my tshirts thru the dryer for an extra tumble (after cleaning the clogged lint trap again) to get the lint they'd picked up on the initial run w/ the robe back off... ;)
