Verified Buyer Reviewed by Miniaussie from WA on Tuesday, April 18, 2017Used these matched before and am quite pleased. The case is a bit heavy for ultra light hikers, but I carry these for emergency use and I am worth the extra weight. You probably are too.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by I love wool from West Oregon Cascade foothills on Saturday, March 25, 2017These matches were purchased for emergency purposes and have been stored accordingly. I did not test the matches, as they are few in number and are for emergencies. However, as I write this, I decided I should test one. I will be right back.Okay, they are easy to light and have a mid size flame. However, the match I lit had approximately a 5 second burn time. I was inside the house out of any sort of inclement weather conditions. If you ignite one in your house, have a wood stove, fireplace, etc.for ventilation. Imagine a book of matches being ignited at once, for comparison of flame size. However a book of paper matches would burn longer, but paper is paper. I would give five stars, but these matches burn down too fast. You better have your fuel source for your fire on the spot, ready to ignite. 99.9% of you know this, but always carry more than one source for fire starting and practice with it before you leave home. Wet, cold, hungry and lost is no time to learn how to use your fire starter(s).
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Alan from NH on Thursday, March 23, 2017The tip of the match contains a chemical producing a brisk lighting, followed by a slow burn of the remaining coated section. The match then went out when it reached the wood-only part. The matches and case are considerable larger than even "life-boat" matches.
