Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by traveller from South America on Monday, March 13, 2017Bought for brand name, lightweight, waterproof, comfortable. Seems that wears very badly for price paid.
Bought 1yr ago, used once for weekend and again for 10-day hike. leather on front was very badly scuffed after a long but not extreme trip. I was told this problem was due to wear and tear - would expect it to last longer for this price. My second pair of Vasque hiking boots and my last.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Kenny from California on Wednesday, February 3, 2016Great boot! Very comfortable and lightweight. My wife loves them.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Agrin from Pennsylvania on Thursday, November 12, 2015Wore these all day right after I opened the box. Super comfortable. Great support. Well made.
I wear size seven and ordered a seven. Totally happy with these and all the other Vasque I own.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Willa from Worcester, MA on Tuesday, November 3, 2015I have an old pair of Vasque waterproof light hikers in a wide that have been terrific. When I saw these came in wide I grabbed them. They are a little lower than the other pair and might rub my ankle bone but with the right socks and breaking in I think they'll be fine.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by KM from Portland, OR on Tuesday, October 20, 2015I'm a park ranger and I use these boots for work. They were comfortable right out of the box and I've had no problems breaking them in. There was one seam on the tongue that put pressure on my foot the first time I wore them, but it hasn't been an issue since then. This is the first pair of Vasque shoes I've owned, and while I wear a size 7.5-8 in other brands, I needed an 8 wide in this style.

“Can you verify that these are a close out model and not seconds please? I'm so happy to find these boots at this price but I'm a little skeptical because it seems too good to be true. Thank you.”
My Talus' are not seconds. When I first considered buying these boots from STP, I went to the REI website to do some research on them. The Talus model that they were selling "on the floor" was Talus 2. I therefore looked at their clearance page and found these boots...at a higher price than at STP. While you would have to ask Customer Service at STP to verify (I'd suggest calling a live person), my boots do not have any defects that would lead me to believe they are seconds.
These are closeouts, not 2nds.
“are these seconds and if so what makes them seconds? Is this Vasque's Medium - they seem to fit my narrow foot all right. But if there is a NARROW version you don't list, I think they will be too wide for my foot.
What production year are these boots?
I am buying 2 pair to determine which fit best....I assume I can return the pair that is too short for a full refund of the cost?”
I can't completely answer your questions. First of all I don't believe these are seconds but a discontinued model. That said, I still found them at full price on a few websites. The reason why I purchased them is that I have another pair of Vasque boots that I have loved. For me the main concern was width as I have a wide foot and both these and my previous boots came in wide in my size. I believe the boots came only in medium and wide. The date inside my boots says 5/14 so I assume these were produced in 2014.
This item is a closeout.
