Another great value from White Sierra

I own a lot of White Sierra clothing, and normally, I'm a size Medium in all their clothing.
However, the waist seems undersized on these pants, it was very small and tight.
I tried them on with nothing else underneath, and even then, way too small in the waist.
The rest of the garment was ample an... Read More

  • Worked Well in Alaska

I used these for a day of ice climbing in Alaska. It was a sunny day so they didn't have to hold up to rain but it gave a good barrier against the ice and small puddles on the glacier.
  • Great for greenhouse chores

Lightweight, haven't worn yet. Will let you know how they hold up!

I'm 6ft, 200lbs, 32x32 in pants, and ordered the large - they fit great. I haven't put these through downpours yet, but they seem sturdy and I like the fit, so can't complain!
  • Sizes
Reviewed by Steve from California on Friday, March 16, 2018
For a size medium, the waist was 30" not stretched, and 40" stretched to the max.. The inseam was 32", but the butt is really big and the crotch on the pants hangs 3 inches below normal level, so for me with a 32" inseam, several inches of leg wads up around my ankles. If I put suspenders on them, I can pull the waist well above my naval and use them like bibs.
  • Nice, but too long
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Robert from CO on Tuesday, February 27, 2018
Very nice material and good price. Like most hiking and rain pants they only come in small, medium and large. I got the large. I am 5'10", 185 lbs and the waist is fine, but length is 3" too long. However, I can double over the waist and they work ok. Only using them if it rains. They roll up very tightly and take up very little room in my backpack.

  • “Do these comfortably fit over casual pants”
Asked by Gabe from Texas on 2/10/2018 8:36:02 AM
    • They do for me, but I guess it depends on how large a size you buy.
Answered on 2/10/2018 12:04:43 PM by JammaGramma from Iowa
    • I thought they were pretty baggy, so yes I believe they would.
Answered on 2/11/2018 9:12:34 PM by grammie in nh from nh
    • Yes, these should be able to fit over casual pants.

  • “Are these meant just for wicking away rain? How will they hold up for hiking through (knee deep) water?”
Asked by billy the trainer from Utah on 10/21/2017 6:54:45 PM
    • These are waterproof, but will probably not be as effective when in knee deep water.

  • “Can you show me the detail waterproof rating value and the water vapor transmission value g/m2?24hr?”
Asked by SadGoRound from Taiwan on 12/1/2015 6:47:37 PM
    • I cannot in detail. I only know that that small of a rating means the porosity is very small.....hence, the water proving is very good.

    • No, but I wore them yesterday hiking in moderate rainfall in the Whites (Pemigewasset wilderness) and was dry as a bone.

  • “My waist is 38" and these will always be worn over other pants or shorts. Will the L (36-38") work or will I need to move up to the XL?”
Asked by shack from Unknown on 11/5/2012 12:00:00 AM
    • L(36-38") will most probably work for the waist 38.

  • “Are the leg holes large enough to make it easy to pull these on/off over shoes (or are there zippers at the bottom)?”
Asked by Dale from Unknown on 10/1/2012 12:00:00 AM
    • No, they do not go over boots well as they have no zippers in them.
