Good jacket for the price

This jacket was on sale for about $30, so figured I would give it a try. The first thing I noticed when unpacking it was how light it was and how small it could be packed into itself (the right external pocket turns inside out to become the stuff sack). The front pocket placement on the outside of the jacket are comfortable, roomy, and well-placed. The inside pockets (one on each side toward the front, bottom of the jacket, right against the zipper) are both large enough to fit a magazine (completely flat), an iPad, a Kindle, etc. The hook-and-loop closures on the sleeve cuffs have enough material for a wide enough range of cuff diameter choices. All zippers operate smoothly and have pull cords (although they are a bit on the small side). The hood adjustment tab allows for a wide range of sizes to accommodate helmets, hats, or size it to fit an unhatted/unhelmeted head. The drawstrings around the hood are elastic and work well to draw the hood down as much or as little as desired - the drawstring also has simple neoprene stops to keep your desired adjustment setting from uncinching. And while the jacket does a fantastic job of keeping me dry, I have noticed that it does not breath too well and the interior seems to get damp pretty quickly. There are two vents along the back, but they just don't seem to be enough (pit zips would have been very nice - but realize that would have driven up the cost). The material is also wind-resistant and I have found myself comfortable with just this jacket with a fleece or down jacket underneath during windy days in the low 20s. All-in-all, a good jacket for the price.
