1.0 out of 5 stars. Cheaply madeReviewed by John from Ohio on Thursday, December 7, 2017These shoes had me fooled for a while, but when the fake wood started peeling off of the heel, I began to feel like i was duped. Shortly after that, the upper started becoming unglued from the sole, which of course would not happen if the stitching on the sole was real and not fake. Buy these only if you need something that is going to look nice for a short period of time, because you will be throwing them away after a few months of wear!

2.0 out of 5 stars. Comfortable but not durableReviewed by Max from DC on Wednesday, June 21, 2017These are comfortable and good-looking shoes, as I expect from anything made by Wolverine. However, they don't meet my other expectation for Wolverine products: durability. I suspect that the 1883 collection is a cheaper and lower-quality line of Wolverine products. That's fine; not everybody wants to pay $200 for a pair of Wolverine oxfords. But my pair of Javier shoes are visibly deteriorating after only a few months of wearing them a maximum of twice a week. Specifically, there's a problem with the heel. From the picture, this appears to be a stack with rubber at the bottom, a slice of wood, then rubber again where it joins the sole. The wood is fake though - the whole heel is rubber, with a fake-wood veneer glued to the outside. This veneer is peeling off, which looks terrible.
Structurally, the shoes are still fine and I expect that I could continue wearing them for quite a while without them seriously falling apart. However, this peeling off around the heel looks awful and reveals a serious compromise that Wolverine made to reduce costs on these shoes. You're much better off with the Henrik Oxford, which is almost the same price here on Sierra Trading Post and has a real stacked wood sole that won't lead to this problem. -

5.0 out of 5 stars. Well Made ShoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Montgomery, Ohio on Monday, May 1, 2017This a solid well made shoe. Material and workmanship were topnotch. I found that the sizing runs 1/2 size larger than indicated.

4.0 out of 5 stars. runs narrowReviewed by Anonymous from Idaho on Thursday, April 27, 2017My foot measures exactly 11.5 D. I usually wear a 12 medium width. One review said these run a little large so I got the 11.5. I could hardly get me foot in. Certainly too narrow. The length was probably ok. They look like nice shoes otherwise; heavy and well built.

5.0 out of 5 stars. A little bigVerified Buyer Reviewed by TG from AZ on Wednesday, February 22, 2017I really like the look and quality of these shoes. I find the sizing runs a little big, but not quite enough to send them back. First time I wore them to the office I got a small blister on the back of my ankle due to the sizing and stiffness, but they really only needed one day of break-in. Now they're fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great work shoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by John from Ohio on Tuesday, February 21, 2017Comfortable all day. A little heavy, but sturdy and good looking. I was a little concerned about the color -they looked a little washed out in the photo- but it is a cool slightly distressed look.
