Woolrich hasn't let me down yet. I bought these in white/tan and they are so soft and comfortable with plenty of stretch, a treat to put on.
Being a women's size 9 means you're right on the cusp of Smartwool's M and L so neither one is a great fit. These Woolrich socks fit perfectly. I wore these... Read More

I have been really happy with these socks. They are comfortable, and the smart wool is adaptable for the changing temperatures of backpacking trips.

STP markets these socks as crew height.
The pair I received barely hit my ankle bones.
However, the socks are quality & I assume will wash well.
Woolrich's packaging also shows this item as a crew.
    I'm keeping them.

First pair of hiking socks I have bought. We just started hiking this year. Great for those that don't want to spend a fortune on socks.
  • comfy, cushy, cozy

I bought 2 pr at first and came back for 4 more in different colors. I wear size 9 in women's shoes with wide feet and tall arches. I could have fit in L or M and since some socks shrink slightly I went with L. For my feet, L is somewhat oversized but there is enough stretch to hold the sock to my foot so while size M would have fit, the Ls are effectively thicker (hence nice and cushy) and they do not bunch up or move around inside my shoe. Cuffs are on the tighter side but I'd rather that than have them sliding down. These are my absolute favorite socks now, for wear in moderate winter weather (we aren't in the arctic here in NW Arkansas!)

Have washed these several times and they hold up well. Suggest turning inside out before laundering to reduce pilling on exterior, and line dry to extend life of wool and stretchiness. I anticipate getting several seasons' wear out of these!

About Woolrich

The esteemed Woolrich clothing company has come a long way since the early 1800s, when founder John Rich sold socks to logging camps from the back of his mule cart. By 1830, Rich had built America’s first woolen mill in Pennsylvania, and it wasn’t long before Woolrich blankets and clothing became a household name. Over the years, this trusted American brand has enhanced its woolens and other fabrics with contemporary textures, dying techniques and washes, all designed to improve performance and comfort for the modern consumer. Today, after nearly two centuries of putting customers first, Woolrich bedding and clothing is still beloved by those who enjoy the great outdoors and all those who appreciate quality.
