Decent for the price

I wish I could give these 3.5 stars because for the price, they're not too bad. Definitely not the best, but not too bad. I ordered the large for my husband who is a size 13 and they are definitely a tight fit on his snow boots, even thought they say they fit up to 13.5. Didn't have a problem with them sliding off the one time that he used them. I bought smalls for me (I'm a 7.5) and they actually fit over my snow boots very well. Mine had a lot more play and wiggle room than my husband's larges. You have to really pull them and adjust them so that they fit on your shoe just right. They would probably fit a size 13 regular shoe or boot that doesn't have the added insulation that a snow boot has.

My big complaint is the spike strip in the middle. It comes out very easily and if you're not careful when you're putting them on, it can come out. I like the fact that you can replace the strips when the spikes wear out, but I don't like how easily they come out of the sleeve. Since we bought them for walking across ice and snow short distances (from our truck to the x-country ski trailhead), I'm not really sure how they will do for long distances. However, last week we hiked about 1.5 miles in snow while wearing them, and they did fine. Since we live in an area that sometimes has snow and sometimes doesn't, I can't provide any info on how they do for extended periods of time of wear. That being said, they are not bad for the price. If you want a more sturdy pair of winter traction spikes, I would definitely invest in some that has straps that secure them in or crampons. These make a great stop-gap measure for walking across snow and ice and they seem like they might hold up decently.
