These are fantastic for icy driveways, paths, walkways and definitely keep you from slipping. They are great in the woods on a path that is packed down and has become crunchy and slippery and you need grip but snow shoes are not needed. I highly recommend them for country, suburban, or urban living if your sidewalks are frequently icy and slippery...good for agile people as well as the agile and not so agile elderly! I don't know why but older people resist wearing these yet they can save them from breaking their hips! My 40 yr.old friend was walking in a parking lot with dress shoes with no grip and no yak tratrax and she slipped on black ice and broke her elbow and needed surgery....she bought Yaktrax for this year and loves them!

The cons are that once the ice melts they feel squishy and awkward cause you are walking on what feels like springs. When you want to take them off it's easy - but you need a place to sit to yank them off - and they fit in a purse or bag - inside a small zip lock bag. Putting them on takes a bit more work but it's not hard. Make sure you pull the straps up over the edges of your shoes or boots! ! I lost one cause I didn't tug it up on the sides and I didn't notice when it came off.
