Once on your boots you can stride with confidence in the snow and icy conditions. I use for walking the dog on sidewalks with less than adequate snow and ice removal. They are tight to stretch on at first, but that snugness is needed. After my third season my latest pair have stretched some and are easier to get on my boot, but don't stay on so well.
