Suited to walks to the mailbox, driveway shoveling

These are easy on and off and work fine on icy surfaces. But they break down fast if you are moving between ice and asphalt, as I do during winter walks. The weak point is the soft rubber where the greatest stress is applied - just beyond the wire loops. If that area of the item connects with road or sidewalk surface, it quickly degrades and breaks. Mine lasted about 2 walks - 8 miles. These are a cheap easy solution but I prefer to get a couple years out to them. I'm hoping the equally affordable icetrekker is an upgrade.
