Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Dino Hikes from MA on Friday, February 17, 2017I ordered these as I needed to upgrade my insulated boots for more crampon use on my winter hikes in the Whites and an upcoming ice climbing class I was taking. They arrived right on time, and even though I had not tried Zamberlans in the past these fit perfectly. I purchased my street shoe size (6.5 US) even though I normally wear 7s in hiking boots. They have much more room (they feel longer) than my Merrell or Lowa boots I own in a size 7. The Fitz Roy have ample room in the toe for mountaineering weight socks, chemical toe warmers, and kicking space when using crampons. They were a bit stiff but broke in well within an afternoon of light use. The lacing system has a great feature that allows you to lock your heel into the boot so that you don't slip forward if your laces loosen at the top during wear. The insole is not super comfortable, but I am pretty picky with insoles in all my shoes so I will be swapping the stock ones out for my heat molded soles.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by casstno from Kentucky on Wednesday, February 1, 2017The shoes look good and wear comfortably. But I have not tried them yet in mountains.

These should definitely keep you warm, but may be a bit stiff if you are using them for everyday hiking. You may want to take a look at our buying guide to see some of the differences with hiking and mountaineering boots.
These boots come with a Gore-Tex® waterproof membrane already embedded in the boot.
