5.0 out of 5 stars. Stylish boots

I was looking for a pair of black winter boots, something that looks great in an urban setting as well as outdoors. It looks like the color scheme for the latest "black" version of the boot has changed (brown accent near heel; midsole is now grey/blue; blue laces instead of black), so I'm glad I have this version. I normally wear a 8.5M and these fit fine and I haven't found any pressure points. It hasn't rained yet, but I don't expect them to be completely waterproof since Goretex is not used.

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars. Not waterproof
Verified Buyer Reviewed by A from Planet Earth on Thursday, January 10, 2019
I bought these boots for a winter trip to Austria. While they are comfortable and look good, they aren't at all waterproof. Soon after going out in snowy/sleety conditions, my feet and socks were soaked, which I don't consider "comfortable in all weather conditions". Furthermore, as the insole gets wet, it appears to leak out dye, painting your socks and the sole of your feet an odd shade of purple. Not a good look and distressing the first time you see it.

I have no idea if it's just a defective pair or they are all like this, but, for a boot that's sold as being "waterproof"(--in the title!), it's been a very disappointing purchase and not worth it.

I own a lot of Merrell shoes and boots. These were not the most comfortable shoes I own by them, but they look really nice.

Good looking comfortable boots made for city hiking. Not sure about it's
    waterproofness due to other comments.

As soon as I put them on I knew that these were going to be some of my favorite boots. They were comfortable right out of the box. My toes had plenty of room and the arch support was spot on. The style is both jeans casual and upscale enough to wear to work.
The soft leather and the exceptional craftsmanship will give me years of wearability. They even come with an extra set of laces.

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
