There ample spots for pens and pencils, two compartments, water bottle holders and a secret side pocket. Great for everyday use of transporting multiple different items ie: clothes, books, water bottle, smaller bags. Great deal and quality, couldn't be happier. Probably one of the better backpacks I've bought in my life.
