5.0 out of 5 stars. Love it! It's just a bit small.

I'm 5'7" and normally wear a medium, but this medium felt a bit tight across the back as I moved my arms forward. Also the sleeves seemed short. The sleeves in the large were at least 3/4" longer, so I went with the large.

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. zipper broken, hardly worn
Reviewed by Kelly from PA on Sunday, August 1, 2021
I thought buying a Marmot jacket would mean years of utility. First of all, it fit a little on the small side. The Pre-Cip barrier was not as good as Gore Tex, but okay. But I hardly wore it and less than two years later the zipper broke. Mostly the zipper is metal but the end nub (where the zipper hooks up at the bottom) cracked and it isn't something easily repairable.

I have almost this exact same jacket with the Cabela's branding on it. I loved it, but the seam tape all started coming up and tearing so it was time for a new one. I wasn't excited about paying over $100 for a replacement so I was thrilled when this one came up on sale on the Sierra site. It is perfect! As I said, it is nearly identical to the one I have, which has given me several years of near-daily use from late winter through late fall. I expect the same life expectancy from this jacket.

Very lightweight, packable, pit zips, inside and outside pockets, hood will fold up into collar, when not in use. Trim fit, but room for layers, if necessary. Bottom cinch cord to keep weather out. Fits nice.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
