5.0 out of 5 stars. 2 Hiking seasonsReviewed by Wayne from Maine on Friday, November 25, 2016Was unfamiliar with the AKU brand so read the STP reviews and crossed my fingers. These hiking boots more then held there own. Very comfortable and the build is excellent. Strictly day hiking in the 5 - 8 mile round trip range. Almost always in Maine or New Hampshire. I've even done a few shorter winter hikes using these with crampons . Suspect these have been on 60 hikes minimum last 2 years. Still in very good shape. Yes I will buy AKU for my next replacement hiking boot.

4.0 out of 5 stars. very nice fit, but too stiff a sole, and soft upperVerified Buyer Reviewed by mike from seattle on Tuesday, December 1, 2015I really liked the way these fit me, but the sole was quite stiff while the upper was soft. The fit was true to size perfectly. I returned, because I have been looking for an exceptionally comfortable boot with natural stride for long trail hikes in hot summer weather. I think I finally found a boot that will provide me with what I have been looking for in the Salomon Quest 4-D non gore-tex model. They are only available from military supply houses.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Quality Boot for the Serious HikerReviewed by Anonymous from Colorado on Tuesday, September 15, 2015First a word about sizing. I wear a US 9.5 or a Euro 43 and the 9.5/43 in this boot is dead on. I tried on the 10/44 and it was sloppy. There is nice room in the toe area. Enough to actually wiggle your toes a bit. You should have no problem with toe rubbing. The collar is slightly taller than a standard boot which gives you excellent support. The tongue is integrated so water will not be able to creep in under the laces.
The boot has good looks and feels solidly constructed. I look forward to many years of use. For reference I have used Patagonia, Addidas and Lowa in the past and this boot seems to surpass all of them...so far. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent all around trekkersReviewed by Ebars from NH on Tuesday, August 11, 2015I take a 10.5 shoe, 11 boots (usually) with a narrowish ankle heel area and a slightly wide forefoot. The 11 fits perfectly with a bit os extra space for heavy socks and/or aftermarket insole.
Great underfoot platform, nice rolling gait. Stiff and supportive but plenty of cushion as well. The Vibram soles grip very well. The upper breathes (fabric version) unlike any Goretex boot I have tried. Pretty amazing. Lacing system is 2nd to none as well. It allows for a great customizable fit. I like how you can really bring these in tight around the ankle without pinching the top of the foot.
They are reasonably light and the fabric split leather upper allows for some decent agility and flexibility for moderate scrambling or fast packing.
Very impressed with Aku. My comparisons (other brands I have or have tried) are Salomon, Lowa, Alico, Hanwag, Danner. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice bootReviewed by Anonymous from Florida on Saturday, June 27, 2015This is a review of the fabric version. I returned a pair of Aku Teton boots in the same size that are wider and feel much softer, but not in a good way. The boot is very comfortable and seems stable enough for a medium load. Fit is as expected. I wear a 10.5 dress shoe and prefer 11 for hiking boots. These are dead on with sizing. I have a narrow foot and with medium weight socks and the stock insole the fit is excellent (the pulleys make for almost perfect adjustment of the forefoot). I can also fit a pair of Sole low volume or Montrail higher volume insoles, although with the Montrail I would go with lighter socks. These are fairly narrow but great for my feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars. good bootsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Bubba from Alabama on Monday, June 15, 2015Got these for a trip I am planning. After breaking in, they wear well. I got them a half size bigger than my normal shoes and they fit well with hiking socks and liner.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent boot with a superior lacing systemReviewed by Anonymous from North Carolina on Tuesday, April 21, 2015Up front I need to say that I returned this pair of boots because I felt there was a little too much room in them for my feet, but I must also say that the misfit was due mainly to my narrow feet and not to the boots' sizing. I believe the boots, size 11M in my case, were true to size. I was very impressed with the construction of the boots and the materials used, and I especially liked the pulley lacing system. It is the same system used on the Asolo Powermatic 100s and is the best I’ve encountered so far. The boots were very stiff and supportive, but still felt as though they would only require a short break-in period. I think they are probably one of the best bargains at STP especially if purchase during one of their email promotions. I was reluctant to order them at first because of the lack of reviews, but with STP’s easy return system there was not much risk involved. I ended up with the Asolo Powermatics which runs a tad narrower than the AKUs and are also an exceptionally good buy at STP.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Well made bootVerified Buyer Reviewed by TC from san leon, texas on Thursday, April 9, 2015This is a well made boot. It is a boot not a light weight shoe. It runs true to size for European footwear (43) which run about 1/2 size different than a US shoe, so if You wear a 9.5 US buy a 10 (which is UK 9 or 43 Euro) - same as a Hanwag boot. Very comfortable fit with plenty of toe room (no squeezing but not loose fitting). It is a little stiff at top of boot which should loose up as it is broken it.
