The leather is thick but but soft without the boot being flimsy. The sole has curvature to give a stiff gripping sole that walks well. Well lined, waterproof and they are nice looking. I went 1/2 size larger as I will wear heavy socks for cold weather wear.

I have a very high arch and use special inserts which were easily installed after removing the insert that is supplied with the boot. I was concerned that I might have needed to order a 1/2 size larger, but the toe box of this boot is plenty large and therefore the fix allows plenty of room for my toes to move.
