Usual fare for me is hard-shell and a down/fleece layer; but for the price; ... this is the win. The barrel neck is a unique item for kids, and the hip length is a big plus too. Add in the fleece lining on the inside; big win.

I accidentally order a size 4 but didn't realize it until after my son fell in love with it. I told him I would exchange it but he didn't want to let go of it. I decided to order the next size up and he continued to wear the smaller one until the new one arrived(about 5days later) this is a great jacket with a nice hood a a snap around the neck area to keep a child warm. It doesn't seem heavy weight to me, but maybe that's what my kindergartener likes about it. I kept the extra one for another child. The sizing is accurate.
