During a 9 mile difficult rated hike where one crosses a 2 to 5 feet wide stream for 15 times, with up to a foot deep water,they stayed perfectly and absolutely dry.
I do spray them at least once a year. -

I've worn the boots for a couple of weeks and they are comfortable and feel like i could hike all day with them. The boots are appropriately stiff for hiking and backpacking. I'm very happy with these boots.

I am shoe-size 11 D, bought these in 11-1/2 and they were a perfect fit with one medium thick merino wool sock. No slippage in the heel. held my feet snugly all the way around, yet plenty of wiggle room in the all-important toe box. There is real leather padding inside the collar and inside top of the tongue for extra comfort. The outsole has a slight break at the ball of the foot to propel you forward as you walk.
All I can say is--wow!
Only downside is these are built for a medium width (Size D) or narrower foot. Wider feet may feel a little cramped unless you go up further in size.
These are a little pricey, but with an STP dealflyer coupon, you can get yourself a beautifully made pair of sublime hiking boots for a great price.
