5.0 out of 5 stars. A winter hiker must have!
Reviewed by Intheoutdoors from North Carolina on Wednesday, December 10, 2014
I'm a hiker in NC, mostly warm to cool weather so never had winter hikers. Planned a trip to Banff this year and ordered these boots for the trip. Generally like Keens but wasn't expecting too much as far as a winter hiking boot but Keens are usually comfy out of the box so went with these anyway. Well I was more than pleasantly surprised! I was only in Banff and Lake Louise for a week but it was in 1-2 feet of snow and temps from 10-25 F and my feet were warm and dry the entire time. These things kept my feet toasty in several hours of deep snow, did not slip once on several hours of deep packed snow(steep up and down grades, was even able to run in them!) nor let in water fording across breaking ice on the lake. I wore only a pair of mid weight wool socks with them(in addition to my other clothing of course). I was so delighted and several times shouted out with glee randomly along hikes at how wonderful these darlings were performing!! If your size is available get them while you can!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Keen Winter Boots

I have not had a chance to test these boots in the Winter yet but so far they have been great and water proof as I had hoped. They fit well, are comfortable, and a good match for our cool wet mornings up here in Alaska. I think with the right socks they will be fine for Winter as well.

These boots are great! Keens are wonderful well made, though they do run about 1/2 size small. Got them at the tail end of a long winter but have worn them a few times. Wonderful purchase.

I needed to replace a pair of boots that just about got me through the LONG Wisconsin winter of 2014, and these were the chosen replacement. I wear a size 11 wide normally, and the size 11 fit great!. I have larger ankles and calves, and these boots don't bother me at all. They are not bulky or heavy, perfect for what I was looking for. The color (Raven/Comfry Green) is neutral enough to go with anything. I have a few other pair of KEEN's, which I LOVE, and these are no exception.

These run 1/2 size small, like most Keens for women. Not as wide in the toebox as many keens, but wide enough. Good ankle support. Nicely waterproof and insulated

About Keen

Keen shoes have been helping feet find adventure since 2003, and it all began with the signature KEEN.PROTECT toe bumper. It might seem strange to build a footwear company around a feature, but that iconic toe bumper is more than just a style add-on. It’s what allows Keen sandals to hit the trails and provide the best toe protection possible. In fact, Keen was one of the first footwear companies to make closed-toed hiking sandals. Over the years, the product selection has continued to grow and now includes Keen hiking boots, trail shoes, cycling shoes, socks, clothing and bags. The brand is also actively involved in land and water conservation projects in the US, Canada, Europe and Japan.
