4.0 out of 5 stars. Great bibs for skinny AT skiersVerified Buyer Reviewed by Lewis from ALASKA on Tuesday, March 22, 2016First the bad. I'm 5'11", 170. I got a medium, and I'll have a hard time getting layers on around my 33" waist inside the bib. Not that I often want to, it's hot work going uphill. I wish they had a scrim lining instead of brushed fuzz micropile, which makes for some friction between layers on your thighs when you walk or skin uphill. I wish the snaps at the waist were a little stronger so I could rely on them to stay closed without the bib closure fastened too, but there's belt loops. And mostly I wish they weren't boring black.
Beyond that, I'm in love! They feel light and flexible, vent well, fit snug instead of saggy in the crotch and butt without hindering movement yet still have nice roomy thighs for us folks with serious quads. They have cuffs that are actually wide enough to take an open AT boot in walk mode without having the boot buckles destroy the inside of the fabric. They have burly elastic on the snow cuffs inside. They don't have any stupid storm flaps anywhere to impede the zippers. The inner leg vent zips don't rub on each other since they're above the knees. The bib portion is breathable and comes off quick and easy.
I don't think these would stand up to really prolonged abuse groveling around in the snow building kickers and wrestling snowmachines, but if you're athletically built and running AT ski or splitboard laps, these are pretty dang nice. -

3.0 out of 5 stars. I want to love them...Reviewed by Ryan from WNY on Saturday, December 26, 2015I love the fabric, the features, and the quality. I can't live with how they fit though...
I am about 5'11" / 205lbs / 36" waist / 32" inseam and I found the XL to WAY too long and extremely baggy in the lower-leg. I know they need to be a little bigger to go around a boot, but if I ever found a pair of boots that were as wide as the leg openings, I'm fairly sure that I wouldn't be able to walk in them...
I also purchased a size L and the waist is a little snug, but would work, but again they are way too long! I don't think that the lower legs are excessively large in this size, but I will be walking all over these if I wear anything other than ski boots. While I am looking at these primarily for skiing, I will use them for all my winter time activities that I want to stay warm and dry. They need to be at least 3" shorter for me not walk on them (Bogs/Muck type boots, or even my insulated hiking style winter boots).
First of all the "touch" of the external fabric is fantastic. It is not slippery and plastic like. It doesn't make a ton of noise while you're walking, and feels like it will be durable enough for years of use. Of course there is Gore-tex underneath to keep you dry and keep the pants breathable. The fleece-like insulation is soft and just thick enough to provide some warmth and comfort. They feel great against bare legs if it is warm enough to wear shorts.
I love the removable bib portion, but if you have much of a belly or wear a lot of layers, it will probably be a bit troublesome to keep the "belly band" attached as there is only one plastic snap and a strip of velcro. I have "thick" thighs and I find that even the upper legs have adequate room even in the size large, but those with skinnier legs will probably think that these are too baggy. I like the front pockets and the zip access to whatever you are wearing as an underlayer. I have lost track of how many times that I left my cell phone in my front pocket of my pants and them put on my ski pants... No issue at all with these pants as it only requires me to unzip a zipper on whichever hip I need access to. The back pocket and thigh pocket are a nice touch as well.
I also love that these have thigh vents, but I do wish that they had mesh across the vents... No one wants to see my hairy thighs sticking out of my ski pants on the warm days when I'm wearing shorts!! I was initially concerned that there are no zippers in the lower legs, but as mentioned above, the lower legs are wide enough that it will not be a problem to get these over any type of boot that I can imagine. I do wish they had some way to cinch the lower legs though, then I wouldn't be walking on them.
Bottom line:
They are killer pants and I wish that I could keep them. They are just too long!

One shot is without foorwear. I wear a size 10, and you can barely see my socks. The other shot shows how my boots do not prevent the cuff from making contact with the ground. These a Bogs/Muck types boots and there is almost 2" of cuff under my heel. -
2.0 out of 5 stars. Looks Nice, Poor fitVerified Buyer Reviewed by C from Colorado on Saturday, December 26, 2015I'm 5'11 170lbs and a small fit.... Barely! I will have to replace with a medium in another brand. Aside from waist size Length is good and fit is not too baggy.
In the STP description one of the Specs says : "Zip, mesh-lined thigh vents" this is not the case, none of the vents were mesh-lined. -
3.0 out of 5 stars. Weird proportionsVerified Buyer Reviewed by AK swim teacher from Alaska on Sunday, April 5, 2015I read the reviews but didn't heed the warning. Cut is odd. Legs have plenty of room, but waist tight. Fabric and design good, but the fit was horrible. Thought OR would have done better with sizing. Returned them to stp.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great bib!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Madmotts from Seattle on Wednesday, March 11, 2015Wore on bright sunny days in Zermatt, CH. Vents on the inside of the leg, while strange are really help with air flow. Wasn't able to verify the waterproofness. They are pretty warm. I had no problems with leg warmth at the top of the Matterhorn glacier paradise lift with moderate wind and only icebreaker (wool) baselayer underneath.
the bib has waist zipper that allows you to unzip from the suspenders w/o taking off your top layers (restroom break). The fit is a hint long for me (I wear a 30" inseam) and slightly slim.
I like material which is 3L gore-tex, but doesn't make the typical shell sound. It's listed as stretch and has a little bit.
Fantastic value on Sierra Trading post. Difficult to find such a high quality bib for the price. -
3.0 out of 5 stars. Great construction but fit doesn't work for meVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Chicago area on Friday, March 6, 2015My first impression as I opened the box from STP was WOW! Fabric, zippers, taped seams-- top notch. Then I tried them on. For reference, I ordered a size L, I'm 5-11, 195 ins, with a 34/35 in waist. My inseam is 32/33 on jeans. The fit just wouldn't work. I had about 3 in of drag with shoes on. Just too long. Waist and thighs were perfect, but the zip off suspenders (above the waist) were tight and somewhat uncomfortable. I could have lived with that-- or just not used that part, but the length was a showstopper. Another feature that would have been nice is a snap to tighten up the flair on the bottom of the pants. In closing, I would need to be about 2-3 inches taller to make this work. For someone the right size, these are a great buy-- just not for me so they had to be returned. Hope this helps others in their buying experience.

2.0 out of 5 stars. I wanted to like them but have to return themReviewed by geotrouvetout from Massachusetts on Wednesday, February 25, 2015I'm 5'9, 185 lbs and wear 32 to 34 size pants and purchased the M of these pants.
On the positive, the build quality seems very good.
However, size and cut is not good at all. M was way too tight at the waist and crotch, I thought 32 would be the starting point, it's actually the ending point so M is 32 and below, L is 33 to 35. Both would only work if you are at least 6' tall, all legs.
The other issues are the width and lengths of the legs. These pants are too long and at least 2 inches too wide so I'm not even going to exchange for large size as the will be even longer. Very disappointing as the material is top notch.
