I like others had trouble with the back zipper not working or difficult to pull up. With further inspection, the placket is the culprit. It has not been sewn into the boot correctly that causes the zipper to catch the placket. I order the brown and the black boot. I didn't make a decision until the holidays were over whether to keep them. We have a new leather repair shop in my suburb which I wanted to try. The estimate was $25 for the repair for each boot. I have decided to take the gamble and have them repaired. The leather is absolutely gorgeous. STC should include that in the description

Very high quality for this price and Sofft shoes are always very comfortable. There is an issue with the zipper and I think that's why they are so discounted. I love the back, rather than side zipper, I think it looks so much better on a casual boot. However, the zipper was almost impossible to move and definitely a problem. The piece of leather behind the zipper is thick and sewn too close to the zipper, but easily remedied. I just bent it away from the zipper and kept working it back and away from the zipper, took a couple minutes but instantly fixed the issue. It is a big zipper so rubbing a little bees wax on it keeps it smooth too. I prefer my leather boots to be more distressed, these are a bit dressy for me, but I'm wearing them around the house to rough them up a bit. Sometimes a good pair of leather boots take time, these have great potential. I bought black and brown,I'm good on knee-high boots for now.
