Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. Really nice shorts!
Reviewed by GSDgirl from SF Bay Area, CA on Wednesday, November 13, 2013
For me, The North Face clothes typically run a full size too small, and these shorts are no exception. Knowing this, I ordered a size up from what I'd normally wear in other brands of pants and shorts, and they fit perfectly. If you're between sizes, I'd highly recommend going up a size, and maybe even if you're not, unless you have a very small waist, which is where TNF tends to be tight on me.

I actually have these in 3 colors because I like them so much. The length is good - not too short, not too long, the rise is mid on me (I'm short waisted, so your mileage may vary), the fabric is substantial, not flimsy, and there's enough give for comfort without them getting all stretched out and baggy by the end of the day. I love all the pockets too.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. There's a regular and a long

The long is shown in the picture, watch the video to see the length of the regular. They are short but not too short. They do run small, I ware a 4 and had to get these in a 6.
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars. Too small and too short

After reading many reviews, I ordered a size larger than what I usually wear in TNF shorts - still way too small. Other reviewers also mentioned that they were a bit on the short side - that is an understatement. I have slender legs, but still, there is NO WAY I would wear these. Sad to return them. :-(
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Shorts are way too small and much shorter than picture
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Suzanne from South Florida on Wednesday, May 14, 2014
I have other Northface pants in a size 8 that fit perfectly. I can't even get these shorts over my thighs. They are also much shorter than they appear in the photo. I am a little upset that I have to pay return shipping on them as they are definitely not sized right and the photo is much different than they are.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Ridiculously small shorts!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Elizabeth from Bloomington, MN on Wednesday, April 16, 2014
These shorts are teeny weeny. Both in the waist and the length. Don't let the picture fool you--the length from the crotch to the hem is 4 inches. The picture makes it look more like 8. Also, The waist runs way small. I am 5'9" and 145 lbs. I ordered a 6 originally, and had to exchange them for an 8 (which is still very tight on me). I have another pair of North Face Shorts and I wear a size 4 in those, no joke. There is no stretch to these shorts. Other than the ridiculous sizing, I think they're okay shorts.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice quality shorts BUT....
Reviewed by Ranch Girl from Southern California on Monday, March 31, 2014
These shorts are very nice in style and quality, but mine are only a 3" inseam, maybe 2". Fine if you have young legs, but at at 47, a little more length as described would have been better for me. That said, my husband loved them on me, plus I ordered a size larger than my normal so the shorts sit a little lower on my hips giving me a little more length. I am keeping them since my husband gave them a thumbs up.

About The North Face

Believe it or not, The North Face story didn’t begin on a high-altitude ascent. It actually began in San Francisco at less than 200 feet above sea level. However, what started as a neighborhood mountaineering shop has since evolved into an industry-leading, award-winning outdoor equipment and apparel brand. Since its inception more than 40 years ago, The North Face has grown to include clothing and gear designed for nearly every type of adventure, from alpine skiing to backpacking to trail running. Today, The North Face jackets and pants are chosen by world-class athletes, and The North Face rugged boots help carry explorers through the toughest terrain, from the icy slopes of Everest to Utah’s Green River basin.
