4.0 out of 5 stars. Great Value as a Target Scope.Verified Buyer Reviewed by PBS from SAN DIEGO on Saturday, September 27, 2014For under $200 the scope is a great value. The view is bright and can resolve 30 cal bullet holes in the black at 300 yards under reasonable seeing conditions.
The tripod is sturdy, steady, and compact and smooth to operate and adjust. The case is also sturdy. The scope has an adjustable objective shade, a snap on objective lens cap and a screw on eyepiece cap/protector. Nice.
Color aberration is present especially in the higher powers; sometimes the white scoring rings and target fringes look greenish for example. However, they are really white. Sometimes there are reddish hues. And resolution is often much better at 40x or below than at up to 60x where the image is bigger but more blurry. The focus knob is smooth and easy to adjust.
I do not know how it would be for wildlife viewing or astronomy especially if correct color is an issue.
As a target scope, it gets the job done with good value.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Vanguard 580 Spotting ScopeReviewed by On the River from Virginia on Friday, January 17, 2014Scope is very clear, compact and the small tripod makes it very easy to view. When you change the magnification you do have to refocus. Great value

4.0 out of 5 stars. Good butReviewed by Harryst from NJ on Monday, January 13, 2014This is a good scope but it is not great at the highest range of magnification. The build quality is first rate and the kit comes with very well made case, scope cover and tripod. This would be the buy of the year if at the highest range was as good as the lowest range. At the first two magnifications 20x – 40x it is very good at the higher range 40x – 60x you start getting color fringing problems. Overall I would say it’s a great scope 20x – 40x for a great price.
